For Immediate Release:

St. Louis, MO, October 26, 2020 -

November 6th at 8/7c Akeem Shannon & STL Startup: “Flipstik” will appear on ABC’s “Shark Tank”

If you haven't seen “Flipstik” at the St. Louis Galleria or West County Mall, or visited their booth at any number of St. Louis events, you may want to get hip, because soon the entire nation will be going crazy for Flipstik!

Flipstik was developed and designed by Akeem Shannon, a St. Louis native. Their namesake product “The Flipstik” is a customizable kickstand that attaches to your phone cover and allows you to stick your phone to nearly any flat surface for hands-free use by utilizing their trademarked “Synthetic Setae” adhesive! Plus it’s reusable and washable 1000s of times! This enables hands-free selfies, zoom conferences, hands-free Youtube or Netflix viewing on planes and trains, and hands-free GPS use while in any vehicle. Akeem created his reusable “Synthetic Setae” adhesive from NASA research, based on the feet of geckos! It holds up to 2 lbs and can be cleaned with soap and water or alcohol pads.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Akeem attended DeSmet Jesuit High School then studied Chemical Engineering at Howard University. Upon losing his scholarship, he came back home to St. Louis where he built a successful career in corporate America. Approximately three years ago, he left corporate America and within a few weeks came up with the idea for the Flipstik after a late-night call with his uncle, an engineer at NASA. In the past year, he has wowed the likes of P. Diddy, Snoop Dog and “The Sharks” with Flipstik’s capabilities. Check out our website www.getflipstik.com/press to learn more about our founder and get your “Watch Party” invitation to Flipstik’s National TV debut!

Akeem is focused on building Flipstik in St. Louis and supporting local jobs and organizations. Flipstik anticipates creating 30 jobs in the St. Louis area over the next 6 months. Flipstik also focuses on hiring highschool and college students for internships! Learn more about career opportunities at www.getflipstik.com/careers

Akeem’s ties to St. Louis runs deep and he is beyond proud to represent the city on the national stage. Akeem has a passion for volunteering and focuses on giving back. Akeem was a member of Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club, and the Boy Scouts growing up. Now he gives back by volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Speaking to students across the city.
